Weightlifting Club

A-C Central's students and teachers aren't all a bunch of couch potatoes. We have an active Weightlifting Club. Today we interviewed Mr. Davenport. Mr. Davenport is the founder of the Weightlifting Club. This is the second year that we have had the club. We asked him 6 questions and here are his answers:
Mr. Davenport ^^^^^

A-C: What was your motivation to start Weightlifting Club?
Davenport: Kids came to me and asked if we could do something with the weight room.

A-C: How many kids are involved?
Davenport: I have about 30 kids.

A-C: What are some of the training/safety requirements to be involved?
Davenport: Watch two presentations and go through the forms on how to use the different equipment.

A-C: When are students able to lift?
Davenport: Twice a day, after school, and in the evening.

A-C: How did you acquire the equipment?
Davenport: Mostly donations, and I know a guy in Springfield at a fitness store and he tells me when people are selling stuff for cheap.

A-C: Any specific plans for the club this year?
Davenport: Sell T-Shirts and acquire more equipment.

Bluejays Footballers

The Porta Bluejays football team started off their season August 23 with their annual blue and white scrimmage game. The game gave us a look at what the Jr. High, Freshmen, JV and Varsity boys have been doing to prepare for the season. The Varsity boys started off their season-opener August 29  playing against the Athens Warriors at a home game. Sadly, they lost that game but there are still more games to come. There are three high school students from A-C Central  that play on the  Porta Bluejays Varsity football team. We have Quinn Allen and Ryan Woodard who are  seniors and Dalton Johnston who is a Junior at A-C Central. I asked the guys some questions about playing and here is what they had to say.

A-C: How Long have you been playing football?
Dalton Johnston
Quinn: For six years
Dalton: For six years

A-C: Why did you join the team?
Quinn: Because football looked like something I wanted to do.
Dalton: Because I wanted to be a part of something.

A-C: What position do you play and do you like it?
Quinn: I play Offensive guard and it's okay, but I would rather be center.
Dalton: I'm a wide receiver and yes i do like it.

A-C: What's your favorite thing about football?
Quinn:  I'd have to say the thrill of a win.
Dalton: I like that it's a full contact sport.

A-C: How did you feel about losing your first game of the season?
Dalton: It was disappointing, but I think we can work through it.

A-C Central coming together

Have you ever wondered how A-C Central School District got started? Well A-C wasn't always a school district, but two different ones. They were Ashland and Chandlerville  High Schools. The consolidation didn't pass on the first vote. If the Consolidation didn't passed then Ashland would have to cut back programs and teacher while Chandlerville might have to close and the students would have to go somewhere else. finally on April 9, 1989  the consolidation was voted on again. this time it passed. After the consolidation passed the next step was to decided on the new school's name, colors, and mascots. The choices for the School name was A-C Central or Cass Central. While colors were Black/Gold or Black/Silver. The Mascots  were Wolverines or Knights. The Choice they made was A-C Central, Knights, and Black/Gold.

Originally  Ashland High school were the panther with the purple and white. While Chandlerville were the comets with Maroon and White. There are still some teacher here from the first A-C Central School year. those teachers are Mrs. Leinberger, Web, Hatch, and Mr. Pfaffe. A-C Central is still going strong from back in 1989 to 2014.

Rainy Day

The main sidewalk.
Our newest and biggest pond.
And this is where we park?
We went out into the rain the show you of how flooded our school was on 9/10/14 . So far, women's golf, mens' golf, softball, baseball, track, and cross country have all been canceled. By the end of the day, we ended up with 7 inches of rain. However, I know for sure nobody decided to break out their raincoats and boots to go play in the rain. This is partly because the rain was accompanied by raging thunder. Although it would've probably been pretty fun, I know I prefer to spend my days cooped up inside with social media. The weather may have turned the school into a fishing pond......nobody caught anything but a cold.
